If you hold a NY real estate license, you are required to complete 22.5 hours of continuing education every two years to renew. Here is everything you need to know for 2026.
The Basics
- Hours required: 22.5 hours per two-year renewal cycle
- Who must complete it: All licensed NY real estate salespersons and brokers
- First renewal exemption: First-time renewal salespersons are exempt — the initial 77-hour course counts
- Format: In-person or online (NY DOS approved providers only)
Required CE Topics
- 3 hours: Fair housing and/or implicit bias training (mandatory)
- 1 hour: Agency law (mandatory)
- 2.5 hours: Ethics (mandatory)
- Remaining hours: Elective topics (contracts, finance, property management, commercial, etc.)
Do Not Let Your License Expire
If your license expires without completing CE, your license becomes inactive. Reactivating requires completing CE plus a reinstatement fee. It is completely avoidable — just complete your CE before your expiration date.
CE Included in Our Elite Bundle
Our License Elite Bundle ($699) includes the full 22.5-hour CE package — a $149 value. Your first license renewal is already covered when you choose Elite.
